Application
Silver trifluoromethanesulfonate is a reactive triflating agent and source of soluble silver ions useful for formation of electrophilic onium species and promotion of Friedel-Crafts nucleophile alkene cyclization and esterification reactions. It can also be used To generate cationic rhodium catalysts from chlororhodium complexes for the hydrophosphination of acetylenes.

Purpose
For R&D use onlynot for drug household or other uses.

General Description
Silver trifluoromethanesulfonate or silver triflate is the triflate salt of silver. Since the triflate anion is weakly coordinating it is useful as a halide abstraction reagent. This is similar to other silver salts e.g. the tetrafluoroborate and the hexafluorophosphate. It is useful in activating sulfur protecting groups at the anomeric centres of carbohydrates in presence of iodineNIS.
