Description

Application
Praziquantel marketed as Biltricide is an anthelmintic used for the treatment of tapeworms and flukes. For example it is effective against Schistosoma (blood flukes) the liver fluke Clonorchis sinensis and the fish tapeworm Diphyllobothrium latum.

Purpose
For R&D use onlynot for drug household or other uses.

General Description
It has a pyrazino isoquinoline ring system and is found to be very successful in animals for its anticestode and antitrematode properties. It has been identified that the voltage-gated schistosome calcium ion (Ca2) channels serve as a target for praziquantel.
