2-Methylpentane is mainly used in studies involving the functionalization of aliphatic CH bonds using different carbene insertion processes to form CH insertion products.The metal-free Ritter-type amination reaction of tertiary CH bond using iodic acid as an oxidant in the presence ofN-hydroxyphthalimide has also been reported.
