44-Dimethyl-22-dipyridyl was used in the synthesis of a series ofo-phenanthroline-substituted ruthenium(II) complexes[1]. It was also used as a starting material for the synthesis of a blue luminescent molecule with emission at 450nm and a quantum yield of 43%
