Application
Diethylpyrocarbonate (DEPC) also called diethyl dicarbonate (IUPAC name) is used in the laboratory to inactivate RNase enzymes in water and on laboratory utensils. It does so by the covalent modification of histidine (most strongly) lysine cysteine and tyrosine residues.
