Ruthenium Red has been used for microscopic characterization of cotton tip morphology.It has also been used as a TRPV2 channel blocker.

General Description
Ruthenium Red is a hexavalent polysaccharide stain. It inhibits mitochondrial Ca2uniporter.[1]It is a capsaicin antagonist[3]and blocks vanilloid receptor-1 (VR-1)-coupled ion channels.
