Silver(I) sulfadiazine (AgSD) is popularly used for treating second-degree burn wounds as it acts as an antimicrobial agent and prevents infections.[1][4][5]Silver sulfadiazine-impregnated polyurethane (PU) foam[2]chitosanchondroitin sulfate films[3]may be used for wound dressing.

General Description
Silver sulfadiazine sold under the brand Silvadene among others is a topical sulfonamidesilver antibacterial used as a topical cream on burns. Tentative evidence has found that other antibiotics are more effective than silver sulfadiazine so it is not recommended by the authors of a Cochrane review when more effective options are available.
