Description
Application
it is used as an iodine-based reagent for controlled oxidation and iodine-mediated reactions in organic and analytical chemistry. Its relatively dilute iodine concentration makes it suitable for applications requiring controlled reaction conditions.
Purpose
The purpose of this reagent is to provide a consistent source of molecular iodine (I) in a mixed organicaqueous solvent system. THF acts as the primary solvent water provides the aqueous component and the small amount of pyridine helps control the che
General Description
This reagent is prepared by dissolving 0.02 M molecular iodine in a solvent mixture containing 89.6% THF 0.4% pyridine and 10% water by volume. The resulting solution is an iodine-containing reaction medium in which THF provides solubility for organic substances water contributes to the aqueous reaction environment and pyridine acts as a basic additive.
