Description
Other Notes
45-Dicyanoimidazole (DCI) is an efficient activator for use in chemical synthesis of DNA.
Application
it is used as an activator in automated solid-phase DNA and RNA oligonucleotide synthesis particularly during the phosphoramidite coupling step.
Purpose
Its purpose is to activate nucleoside phosphoramidites making them sufficiently reactive to couple with the free hydroxyl group of the growing oligonucleotide chain and thereby facilitate efficient chain elongation.
General Description
The solution contains 45-dicyanoimidazole (DCI) at a concentration of 0.5 M dissolved in anhydrous acetonitrile. DCI functions as a mild acidic activator that promotes the coupling reaction between the phosphoramidite and the growing oligonucleotide.
