Description
Application
Primarily used as a highly efficient iodinatinghalogenating reagent in organic synthesis. It is also used as an oxidizing reagent for preparing nitriles and in iododesilylation and other functional-group transformations.
Purpose
Serves as a convenient economical source of electrophilic iodine (I) for selective iodination of organic compounds. Its solid form makes it easier to handle than molecular iodine in many synthetic applications.
General Description
DIH is a pale-yellow to light-brown crystallinepowdered compound. It is an oxidizing corrosive reagent and should be handled with appropriate precautions.
