Description
Application
It serves as a solvent in paints lacquers adhesives pharmaceuticals and cosmetics and as a stabilizer for chlorinated solvents. Additional uses include wetting agent in textiles degreaser and extraction medium for oils.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is industrial solvent stabilization and extraction enabling processes in chemical manufacturing drug purification and polymer production due to its solvency and stability.
General Description
14-Dioxane is commonly used in industry as a solvent for numerous organic compounds. However it is a persistent non-biodegradable contaminant often detected in industrial wastewater. Oxidative treatments with oxygen and ozone have proven effective in breaking it down into biodegradable compounds which can then be eliminated through conventional purification methods.
