Description

Application
Used as a solvent in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Employed in organometallic and moisture-sensitive reactions due to its anhydrous nature. Used in extraction and purification processes. Applied in the production of fine chemicals agrochemicals and specialty materials. Utilized as a greener alternative to THF in research and industrial laboratories.

Purpose
Its primary purpose is to serve as a high-performance solvent for chemical synthesis extraction and industrial processing while providing improved environmental and safety characteristics compared to some conventional solvents.

General Description
2-Methyltetrahydrofuran (2-MeTHF) is a clear colorless flammable cyclic ether solvent. It is commonly produced from renewable biomass-derived feedstocks and is often used as a greener alternative to tetrahydrofuran (THF). The anhydrous grade contains very low water content while BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) is added at approximately 250 ppm to inhibit peroxide formation during storage.
