Description
Application
4-Nitropyridine N-oxide is used as a versatile intermediate in the synthesis of substituted pyridines pharmaceuticals and other biologically active heterocyclic compounds.
Purpose
Primarily employed to facilitate regioselective reactions due to nitro group activation it inhibits bacterial quorum sensing (e.g. in Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and NaK-ATPase activity for research on biofilms and cellular processes.
General Description
It acts as a synthetic intermediate for 4-substituted pyridine N-oxides and pyridines in organic and pharmaceutical synthesis. It also finds use in biochemical assays for enzyme inhibition and quorum sensing studies.
