Application
5-Azacytidine is used clinically as an anticancer medication (Azacitidine) for treating conditions such as Myelodysplastic Syndromes and certain types of leukemia.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is to interfere with DNA and RNA synthesis and inhibit DNA methylation which can reactivate silenced genes in abnormal cells.
General Description
5-Azacytidine is a synthetic nucleoside analogue of cytidine in which a nitrogen atom replaces the carbon at the 5-position of the pyrimidine ring.
