Its main purpose is to reduce androgen production in the body because prostate cancer cells can depend on androgens such as testosterone to grow and survive.
General Description
Abiraterone acetate is a synthetic steroidal compound and prodrug of abiraterone. it works by inhibiting CYP17A1 (17-hydroxylaseC1720-lyase) an enzyme involved in androgen biosynthesis thereby reducing the production of testosterone and other androgens.
