Description

Application
It acts as a volatile buffer in protein purification via precipitation mobile phase additive in HPLCMS (replaces non-volatile salts) reagent for organic synthesis of acetamide and in lab diagnostics.

Purpose
Its primary purpose is providing a mild pH 7 buffer (weak acid weak base) that fully volatilizes during analysis avoiding salt interference in mass spectrometry and enabling clean desalting.

General Description
Ammonium acetate is a white hygroscopic crystalline solid formed from ammonium (NH4) and acetate (CH3COO-) ions with molecular weight 77.08 gmol density 1.17 gcm at 20C melting point 113114C (decomposes above to acetamide and water) and highly soluble in water (1480 gL cold).
