Description
Application
It acts as a buffer in chromatography a reducing agent in PdC hydrogenations (e.g. debenzylation nitro reductions) and in organic synthesis like Leuckart reactions or formamide production.
Purpose
Its main purpose is as a safe hydrogen donor and buffer in analytical and synthetic chemistry decomposing to provide H CO and NH without gaseous hydrogen risks.
General Description
Ammonium formate (CHNO or NHHCO) is a colorless hygroscopic crystalline solid with a weak ammonia odor. It has a melting point around 116C high water solubility (102 g100 mL at 0C) and density of 1.28 gcm.
