Description

Application
It serves as a reagent for qualitative sulfate detection (white BaSO precipitate) in manufacturing other barium salts glassceramics production heat treatment salts and laboratory precipitation analysis.

Purpose
Its primary purpose is providing Ba ions for gravimetric analysis of sulfates via insoluble BaSO formation and as a water-soluble barium source in industrial processes.

General Description
Barium chloride dihydrate (BaCl22H2O) is a white colorless crystalline solid highly hygroscopic ionic salt composed of Ba2 cations and Cl- anions with two waters of hydration molecular weight 244.26 gmol density 2.88 gcm3 (anhydrous basis) losing water above 121C to form monohydrate then anhydrous form and highly water-soluble (358 gL at 20C).
