Description

Application
Used as a starting material for styrene (polystyrene) phenol cyclohexane nitrobenzene and other aromatics in plastics synthetic rubber dyes detergents and pharmaceuticals.

Purpose
Serves as the foundational aromatic hydrocarbon for electrophilic substitution reactions due to its resonance-stabilized ring enabling efficient synthesis of industrial chemicals while requiring strict handling for its carcinogenic toxicity.

General Description
Benzene (CH) is a colorless highly flammable liquid with a sweet gasoline-like odor. It features a planar hexagonal ring of six carbon atoms with delocalized electrons all C-C bonds equal at 139 pm boiling point of 80.1C density of 0.874 gcm and low water solubility.
