Description

Application
Used as a building block in peptide synthesis (solid-phase and solution-phase). Employed in organic synthesis to introduce isoleucine into larger molecules. Useful in pharmaceutical research for making peptide-based drugs and intermediates.

Purpose
The BOC group protects the amino (-NH2) group of isoleucine. Prevents unwanted side reactions during coupling steps. Allows controlled stepwise formation of peptide bonds then can be removed to continue synthesis.

General Description
It is an L-isoleucine molecule where the amino group is protected by a BOC (tert-butoxycarbonyl) group. This protection prevents unwanted reactions at the amine during synthesis. Appears as a white solid and is relatively stable under normal lab conditions.
