Description
Application
It is widely used for preparation of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) lipid analysis and GC sample preparation. It is also applied in organic synthesis for deacetylationdeprotection of selected compounds.
Purpose
Its main purpose is to act as an acid catalyst and esterification reagent converting carboxylic acids and fatty acids into their corresponding methyl esters. It can also be used for certain deprotection reactions.
