General Description
Chloroform is a colorless sweet-smelling organic liquid with the chemical formula CHCl3. It is also known as trichloromethane. Dense volatile liquid. Nonflammable under normal conditions. Previously used as an anesthetic but now limited due to toxicity. Acts as a strong organic solvent.
