Description
Application
Catalysts- Used to create catalysts for the petroleum and chemical industries. Ceramics & Glass- Provides the deep blue pigment (cobalt blue) for porcelain and glassware. Agriculture- Added to animal feed and fertilizers as a nutritional supplement. Electroplating- Used in baths for plating cobalt onto other metals. Invisible Ink- Historically used as a component in sympathetic inks. Battery Tech- Used in the production of cathode materials for rechargeable batteries.
Purpose
Its primary role is as a precursor to other cobalt compounds. Acts as a reliable source of high-purity cobalt. Functions as an oxidizing agent in chemical synthesis.
