Description

Application
It is used as a fungicide (Bordeaux mixture) in agriculture in electroplating baths as a mordant in textiles in animal feed supplements and as a lab reagent for Fehlings solution.

Purpose
Its primary purpose is providing Cu ions for catalysis pigmentation and antimicrobial action with the pentahydrate form demonstrating reversible hydration (blue white anhydrous).

General Description
Copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO45H2O) is a bright blue crystalline solid composed of Cu2 cations SO4 anions and five water molecules of hydration in an octahedral coordination around copper with molecular weight 249.68 gmol density 2.286 gcm3 and decomposing at 110C with stepwise dehydration.
