Application
DBP is primarily used as a plasticizer in PVC resins nitrocellulose coatings elastomers nail polish adhesives inks and textiles. It also serves in perfume fixatives safety glass and solid rocket propellants.
Purpose
Its main purpose is to enhance flexibility and durability in plastics and coatings due to high compatibility and low volatility.
General Description
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is a colorless to faint yellow oily liquid with a slight aromatic odor and chemical formula CHO. It has low water solubility (about 10 mgL) a boiling point of 340C melting point of -69C and is lipophilic with a log Kow of 4.57.
