Its purpose is to introduce a protected thymidine residue into DNA sequences enabling the controlled and efficient assembly of oligonucleotides with high sequence accuracy during phosphoramidite synthesis.

DMT-dT Phosphoramidite is a chemically protected deoxythymidine phosphoramidite in which the 5-hydroxyl group is protected with a dimethoxytrityl (DMT) group and the phosphoramidite moiety enables nucleotide coupling during automated DNA synthesis making it suitable for stepwise construction of DNA oligonucleotides.
