Description
Application
Erucic acid is primarily used in the production of lubricants plasticizers surfactants coatings and other specialty chemicals. It is also used as a raw material in the manufacture of erucamide and other oleochemical products.
Purpose
The main purpose of erucic acid is to serve as a long-chain fatty acid feedstock for producing industrial chemicals and materials with lubricating slip and surface-modifying properties.
General Description
Erucic acid is a long-chain monounsaturated fatty acid containing 22 carbon atoms and one double bond. It is naturally present in certain vegetable oils particularly rapeseed and mustard oils and is generally obtained commercially from high-erucic-acid oil sources.
