Pharmaceuticals- Used in syrups ointments and as a laxative. Cosmetics & skincare- Acts as a moisturizer in creams lotions and soaps. Food industry- Used as a sweetener humectant and preservative. Industrial- use In making explosives (like nitroglycerin) plastics and resins. Medical- Used to reduce eye pressure (in conditions like glaucoma).
