The main purpose of heparin sodium salt is to reduce the risk of thrombosis (formation of blood clots) in medical conditions such as deep vein thrombosis pulmonary embolism and heart attacks.

General Description
Heparin sodium salt is a highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan obtained from porcine (hog) intestinal mucosa. It appears as a white to off-white powder and is highly soluble in water. It works by enhancing the activity of antithrombin III a natural inhibitor of blood clotting factors.
