Description

Application
Analytical chemistry- Key reagent in the Griess reaction for detecting nitrite. Water testing- Used to measure nitrite levels in drinking water wastewater and environmental samples. Food analysis- Detects nitrite in processed foods. Biological assays- Used in studies involving nitric oxide metabolism.

Purpose
Acts as a color-forming (coupling) agent producing a pink or red azo dye when reacting with nitrite - allowing easy spectrophotometric measurement.

General Description
An aromatic amine salt derived from naphthalene and ethylenediamine. Typically appears as a white to light pink crystalline powder. Stable in solid form but light-sensitive in solution.
