Description
Application
Serves as a non-polar solvent in labs extractions chromatography and pharmaceutical manufacturing used in rubbercement formulation fuel testing (zero-octane standard) and as a diluent in paintsadhesives.
Purpose
Provides a chemically inert volatile medium for dissolving non-polar compounds and calibrating octane ratings in fuels due to its low reactivity and defined combustion properties.
General Description
n-Heptane (CH) is a straight-chain alkane consisting of seven carbon atoms with the formula CH(CH)CH. It appears as a clear colorless liquid with a mild gasoline-like odor boiling point of 98.4C melting point of -90.6C density of 0.684 gcm and is insoluble in water but miscible with organic solvents.
