Description
Application
NMP functions as a polar aprotic solvent for polymer processing (e.g. aramid fibers) lithium battery production paint stripping and electronics cleaning. It also supports pharmaceutical synthesis and petrochemical extractions.
Purpose
Its high solvency power thermalchemical stability and low volatility enable dissolution of tough resins and controlled reactions though ring-opening occurs under strong acidbase conditions.
General Description
N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) formula CHNO is a colorless to light yellow liquid cyclic amide (lactam) with a mild amine odor. It has a density of 1.03 gcm boiling point of 202C melting point of -24C and is fully miscible with water and organic solvents.
