Description
Application
It is used as an oxidizing agent in analytical chemistry blueprint printing (cyanotype process) electroplating and as a pigment in paints and inks.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is to serve as a mild reversible outer-sphere oxidant (E 0.36 V) for redox titrations and forming Prussian blue analogs with Fe(II) while stable CN-Fe bonds prevent free cyanide release.
General Description
Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) also known as potassium ferricyanide is a bright red crystalline solid coordination complex featuring an octahedral [Fe(CN)6]3 anion with Fe(III) at the center water-soluble with density 1.89 gcm and decomposition above 300C.
