Description
Application
Used as a fertilizer (source of K and P) pH buffer in molecular biology and chromatography food additive and in buffering systems for cell culture.
Purpose
Buffers near pH 4-7 (pKa 2.1 pKa 7.2) for stable assays prevents ammonia loss in fertilizers and stabilizes solutions in extractions.
General Description
Potassium phosphate monobasic (KHPO) also known as monopotassium phosphate is a white odorless deliquescent crystalline powder. It has a density of 2.34 gcm melting point of 252.6C and decomposes at 400C forming acidic solutions (pH 4.6) with high water solubility.
