Description
Application
Used in organic synthesis for selective oxidation (e.g. allylic oxidation). Employed in glass industry to decolorize or impart a red tint. Used in preparation of other selenium compounds. Applied in some metal treatment and coatings.
Purpose
Acts mainly as an oxidizing reagent in chemical reactions. Helps in modifying organic molecules in a controlled way. Improves optical properties of glass.
General Description
Has a sharp irritating odor toxic and corrosive. Sublimes easily (solid gas) when heated. Strong oxidizing agent.
