Description
Application
It serves as a precursor for silver mirrorsplating photographic film emulsions antiseptic cauterant for woundsgranulation tissue analytical reagent for halide detection (AgCl AgBr precipitates) and in explosive sinks.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is providing Ag ions for selective precipitation of halidescyanides and bactericidal action via protein denaturation with light sensitivity causing black Ag metal formation.
General Description
Silver nitrate (AgNO3) is a white crystalline solid ionic compound consisting of Ag cations and trigonal planar NO3- anions with molecular weight 169.87 g per mol decomposition at 440 deg C to silver NO2 and O2 and highly water-soluble (219 g per L at 20C) forming acidic solutions.
