Description
Application
It is applied as a buffer in molecular biology food additive (E262) for pH control and preservative in textile dyeing to neutralize acids heating pads (supercooled trihydrate form) and photographic chemicals.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is acting as a source of acetate ions for buffering solutions (optimal at pH 4-6) protein precipitation in DNARNA extraction and as a mild sequestrant in food processing.
General Description
Sodium acetate (CHCOONa CAS 127-09-3) is a white odorless hygroscopic crystalline salt with a molecular weight of 82.03 gmol highly soluble in water (up to 76 g100 mL at 0C) and decomposes above 300C.
