Description
Application
It serves as an anion source [CH3SO3] for synthesizing ionic liquids (PILs) reagent in pharmaceutical synthesis (e.g. indole acids PDE2 inhibitors) and component in polyanionic antimicrobial membranes or protein purification.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is providing a stable highly soluble methanesulfonate counterion in ionic liquids and salt synthesis enabling phase-transfer catalysis and electrolyte formulations due to weak nucleophilicity.
General Description
It appears as an odorless hygroscopic powder molecular weight 118.09 soluble in water and organic solvents.
