Description
Application
TFA is widely used as a solvent catalyst and reagent in organic synthesis particularly for peptide deprotection and cleavage in solid-phase peptide synthesis. It also serves in chromatography (e.g. HPLC mobile phase) fluoropolymer production and uranium isolation from minerals.
Purpose
Its primary purpose stems from its high acidity (pKa 0.23 far stronger than acetic acid) due to electron-withdrawing fluorine atoms enabling efficient protonation hydrolysis and protein precipitation. TFAs volatility aids easy removal during workups
General Description
Trifluoroacetic Acid (TFA) PurChrom Ultra is a high-purity volatile organic acid optimized for LC-MS applications. It offers strong ion-pairing capabilities excellent solubility in aqueous-organic solvents and low UV absorbance ensuring minimal background interference and consistent chromatographic performance.
