Description

Application
It is widely used in organic synthesis pharmaceutical and chemical research and analytical chemistry particularly for preparing samples for gas chromatography (GC) and GCmass spectrometry (GCMS) by derivatizing acidic compounds to improve their volatility and detectability.

Purpose
The purpose of this reagent is to methylate carboxylic acids phenols and other acidic functional groups converting them into their corresponding methyl esters or methyl ethers for synthesis or analytical applications.

General Description
(Trimethylsilyl)diazomethane solution 2.0 M in hexane is a stable commercially supplied solution of trimethylsilyldiazomethane in hexane that serves as a safer alternative to diazomethane for methylation reactions in organic chemistry.
