Used as a solvent blowing agent in foams refrigerant and component in gasoline blending. Also applied in organic synthesis and as a specialty fuel.

Serves mainly as a volatile non-polar solvent and propellant due to low boiling point and inertness aiding extractions expansions and fuel formulations.
General Description
2-Methylbutane (CH) also called isopentane is a branched alkane hydrocarbon. Its a colorless highly flammable liquid or gas with formula CHCH(CH)CHCH boiling at 28C density around 0.62 gmL and insoluble in water.
