Description
Application
2-Methyl-2-butene is used mainly as an intermediate in organic synthesis. It participates in addition reactions to form alcohols halides and other compounds. It is also used in the production of fuels and petrochemicals and serves as a reference compound in laboratory studies of alkene reactions.
Purpose
For R&D
General Description
2-Methyl-2-butene is an organic compound belonging to the alkene family. It has a branched structure with a double bond at the second carbon and a methyl group also attached to the same carbon. Due to the presence of the double bond it is unsaturated and more reactive than alkanes. It is a colorless volatile liquid non-polar in nature insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents.
