Description
Application
Used as a non-polar solvent in extractions HPLC organic synthesis fuel additive and paint thinner.
Purpose
Provides low-polarity solvency for dissolving organics enables clean chromatography baselines and calibrates octane ratings (0 reference).
General Description
n-Heptane serves as a primary reference fuel (PRF) for determining the octane rating of fuels used in internal combustion engines. Various studies have explored its oxidation mechanisms and kinetics using flow reactors shock tubes and rapid compression machines. Its thermal decomposition has been examined under varying temperature and pressure conditions. Additionally the oxidative dehydrogenation of n-heptane over magnesium oxide-supported vanadium catalysts has been investigated.
