Description
Application
It serves as a nitrogen fertilizer (especially for ricewheat) electrolyte in zinc-carbon dry cell batteries expectorant in cough syrups food additive (E510) for yeast nutrient in bakerylicorice flux in metal solderinggalvanizing and veterinary supplement to prevent urinary calculi in ruminants.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is acidifying agent in medicine (metabolic alkalosis treatment via IV) buffer component with NH4OH (pH 9.25) and nitrogen source in agriculture due to 25% N content with soil acidification preventing ammonia volatilization.
General Description
Ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) is a white crystalline solid an inorganic salt composed of ammonium (NH4) and chloride (Cl-) ions in a tetrahedral ionic lattice with molecular weight 53.49 gmol density 1.527 gcm3 melting point 340C (sublimes) and highly water-soluble (377 gL at 0C 710 gL at 100C) producing mildly acidic solutions (pH 4.66.0).
