Application
DHEA is one of the most abundant steroid hormones. DHEA mediates its action via multiple signaling pathways involving specific membrane receptors and via transformation into androgen and estrogen derivatives (e.g. androgens estrogens 7 and 7 DHEA and 7 and 7 epiandrosterone derivatives) acting through their specific receptors.

General Description
Major secretory steroidal product of the adrenal gland secretion progresively declines with aging. May have estrogen-or androgen-like effects depending on the hormonal milieu. Intracellularly converted to androstenedione. It is used in treatment of menopausal syndrome.
