Description

Other Notes

Ethyl acetate (EA) is a bio-friendly organic solvent belonging to the class of carboxylate esters and is widely used in various industrial applications. Its production has been studied through methods such as reactive distillation and the acceptorless dehydrogenative dimerization of ethanol. EA has also been evaluated as an acyl acceptor in the immobilized lipase-catalyzed synthesis of biodiesel from crude vegetable oils. Additionally research has explored the complete degradation of ethyl acetate into CO using manganese octahedral molecular sieve (OMS-2). In laboratory practices EA serves as an effective alternative to diethyl ether in the Formalin-ether sedimentation technique for concentrating eggs larvae and cysts in fecal samples. During the oxidative combustion of ethanol and ethyl acetate in the presence of copper oxide supported on cerium-doped titania acetaldehyde is formed as a reaction intermediate.
