Description
Application
Used in leather tanning textile dyeing rubber coagulation and as a preservativesilage additive in agriculture. It also serves in chemical synthesis cleaning agents and as a reducing agent.
Purpose
Its primary purpose is as a strong organic acid and reducing agent in industrial processes due to high acidity (pKa 3.75) and ability to decompose to CO and HO.
General Description
Formic acid (HCOOH) also known as methanoic acid is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent odor. It has a boiling point of 100.8C melting point of 8.4C density of 1.22 gcm and is completely miscible with water.
