Description
General Description
Potassium bromide is transparent across a wide range of wavelengths from near ultraviolet to long-wave infrared. In IR spectroscopy solid samples that cannot be easily melted or dissolved in suitable IR-transparent solvents are typically analyzed by grinding them with potassium bromide powder and compressing the mixture into a pellet. This technique requires potassium bromide of high quality. Its suitability for pellet formation is verified through a specialized application test while its chemical purity is confirmed using full-spectrum FT-IR analysis.
