Application
It is widely used in solgel processes for producing silica materials coatings and thin films as well as in the manufacture of ceramics glass and as a cross-linking agent in polymers.

The primary purpose of tetraethyl orthosilicate is to act as a precursor for silica formation enabling the development of advanced materials such as coatings optical fibers and nanostructured products.

Tetraethyl orthosilicate is a silicon-containing organic compound with the formula Si(OCH) consisting of a silicon atom bonded to four ethoxy groups and it is a colorless volatile liquid.
