Description
Other Notes
This compound features a pyridine ring with an N-oxide and a nitro group at the 4-position molecular weight 140.1 gmol and melting point around 161-164C. It is hygroscopic and serves as an oxidizing agent.
Purpose
Primarily employed to facilitate regioselective reactions due to nitro group activation it inhibits bacterial quorum sensing (e.g. in Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and NaK-ATPase activity for research on biofilms and cellular processes.
General Description
It acts as a synthetic intermediate for 4-substituted pyridine N-oxides and pyridines in organic and pharmaceutical synthesis. It also finds use in biochemical assays for enzyme inhibition and quorum sensing studies.
